Artist Statement
I really enjoyed this project of taking pictures of letter lookalikes and turning it into a word. Finding the letters to my last name in my surroundings was tough, but after looking continuously and thinking about it, I ended up finding letters. I struggled to find the letter A, so I ended up bringing in a pile of leaves from outside and looked through them to find anything close to an A, but on the other hand, O was the easiest letter to find, I had a lot of different O pictures, but the one I used is my favorite, and is my favorite letter out of the ones I found. I would say that besides the A I was successful in creating my last name. This could have been improved by a better letter A, as A is my weakest letter, it is hard to figure out what letter it is, but I do like the edits I made to my photos. The contrast I have in my photos is one of my favorite parts, the way even though it is in black and white the contrast is made out is pretty cool. I also like how I portray shape in my photos, I feel as I captured these photos, I successfully made the objects look like the shapes/letters I was portraying. Overall, I am satisfied with my word and the edits I made to it.
